About us

Who we are & our Mission

Welcome to the Hilltop School based in Kitchener, Ontario. At The Hilltop School, we are committed to providing an environment where children are encouraged to explore, create, learn, and socialize at their own pace while acknowledging and celebrating their unique abilities. We believe that children are capable, curious, and full of possibilities. Our mission at The Hilltop School is to provide a high-quality preschool for children ages 18 months to 6 years old in a safe, secure nurturing and natural environment that prioritizes children's mental, physical, social and emotional well-being.

Our Philosophy

At the Hilltop School, we merge educational philosophies to offer a one-of-a-kind learning experience and a wide range of educational programs. Our philosophies are inspired by the Montessori Method with a before and after playfulness of the Emergent curriculum. Our goal is to make each child feel comfortable and secure, encouraging them to attain their full potential as confident, creative, and compassionate individuals, cultivating a genuine desire for lifelong learning.

Emotional reflection, self-guided play, problem-solving, and structured guidance are all components of our programming that help cultivate independent learning. Children are exposed to language & literacy, mathematics, science, social skills, drama, music and movement, visual arts, yoga, the Spanish language and practical life activities through group and individual projects.

Teachers  at The Hilltop School function as role models, guides, demonstrators, observers, recorders, and curious learners in the classroom. As a result, our school curriculum aims to instil confidence and independence in children so that they are adequately equipped for their future.

We continue to introduce key academic fundamentals such as math and literacy using How Does Learning Happen? Ontario's Pedagogy for the Early Years and The Kindergarten Program, while incorporating well-known Montessori activities.
